FAQ

What is the best location for the solar panel?

The solar panel unit MUST be placed in a well-lit location where it can receive maximum sunlight. An outdoor location with direct sunlight for at least six hours every day is ideal. Any cover that shades the panel will affect its ability to absorb sunlight and may shorten the duration and level of brightness of the light’s glow at night.

How to turn on the Star String Lights

There is a protective plastic cover over the mode selection (ON/OFF) switch which prevents the lights from automatically switching on during transit.

Remove the protective cover by pulling it away from the switch. Now you can change the desired mode – ON/OFF/FLASH.

How long should the batteries be charged for use?

First Use

Although there may be some charge left in the battery we recommend switching the unit on until the battery is drained and then fully charging it before the first use. You can cover the solar panel to keep the lights on during the day.

Leave the light’s switch in the off position for 2 sunny days in the sunlight to ensure the battery is fully charged. Once fully charged switch it on and the light will automatically illuminate when it gets dark. You can cover the solar panel to test that the light is operating.

NOTE: The performance of the string lights will vary with the time of year. It will deliver more light when it has had a full day in the sun rather than a day in overcast weather.

Normal Use

You can leave the solar panel in the ON position in the sunlight and it will charge during the day and automatically turn the lights on at night and the off at dawn.

What about recycling the batteries?

Recycling statement

NiMH (nickel–metal hydride) rechargeable batteries are more environmentally friendly because they use a dry liquid, which can be disposed of more easily. Help the environment by disposing of your product responsibly. Please ensure that the battery and unit is disposed or recycled according to local regulations. Please use designated collection points or recycling facilities.
